Purple Roadhouse wurde Anfang 2016 im Waldviertel, Österreich, gegründet, als sich Karl (Bass) und Manuel (Gitarre) nach der Auflösung ihrer früheren Bands zum Jammen trafen. Schnell entstand ihr erster Song „King of Fools“. Mit Mario (Vocals) und Johannes (Drums) fand die Band ihre ideale Besetzung, vereint durch ihre Leidenschaft für Stoner- und Psychedelic-Rock der 70er und 90er Jahre.
Bis zum Sommer 2016 hatte Purple Roadhouse ein kleines Repertoire an Songs, die später auf der Restless-EP erscheinen sollten. Die ersten Auftritte fanden großen Anklang. 2017 folgten mehr Auftritte und die Band machte sich im Waldviertel und in der Wiener Umgebung einen Namen. Neue, härtere Songs kamen bei den Konzerten gut an.
Die Aufnahmen zur Restless-EP begannen im Frühling 2017 und wurden im November veröffentlicht. Anfang 2019 nahm die Band die Single „Spiderjane“ mit der B-Seite „Why Don’t We“ auf.
2020 durchkreuzte das Coronavirus die Pläne der Band. Sie nutzten die Zeit, um neue Songs zu schreiben und ein Unplugged-Programm zu entwickeln. Von 2021 bis 2023 arbeitete die Band weiter an neuen Songs und ging im Herbst 2023 ins Studio. Ihr neues Album “Smoke & Mirrors” wurde an zwei Wochenenden im “listencareful Tonstudio” von Alexander Lausch aufgenommen und anschließend von Martin Scheer gemastert. Der Release am 22. Juni 2024 wurde gebührend mit einer Release-Show im Café Carina gefeiert.

Purple Roadhouse was founded in early 2016 in the Waldviertel region of Austria, when Karl (bass) and Manuel (guitar) met to jam after the breakup of their previous bands. Their first song, “King of Fools,” quickly took shape. With the addition of Mario (vocals) and Johannes (drums), who share a passion for the stoner and psychedelic rock of the ’70s and ’90s, the band found its ideal lineup.
By the summer of 2016, Purple Roadhouse had developed a small repertoire of songs that would later be featured on their Restless EP. Their initial performances were well-received. In 2017, the band played more gigs and established a name for themselves in the Waldviertel and Vienna areas. New, heavier songs were particularly popular at their concerts.
Recording for the Restless EP began in the spring of 2017 and it was released in November. In early 2019, the band recorded the single “Spiderjane” with the B-side “Why Don’t We.”
In 2020, the coronavirus disrupted the band’s plans. They used the time to write new songs and develop an unplugged program. From 2021 to 2023, the band continued working on new songs and went into the studio in the fall of 2023. Their new album, “Smoke & Mirrors,” was recorded over two weekends at the “listencareful Tonstudio” by Alexander Lausch and mastered by Martin Scheer. The release on June 22, 2024, was celebrated with a release show at Café Carina.
